Just curious, did you make your own wordpress theme, or did you use a template?
I'm trying to decide how much work I want to put into it. |

Creating a full wordpress theme seems to me to be way too much work for a blog.
When our clients need a blog we usually find suitable templates and modify them. As an example visit the blog for TheDogDiet.com or GiveAKidney.net. Same basic template but a few changes. HTH |

I agree- too much work for a casual user. The only reason I would see to design your own would be if you need it to match a corporate website or something.
For already made themes that you may modify to suit your taste, you may want to check out some of these free theme sites: http://www.freewordpressthemes.com/ http://www.wpthemesfree.com/ http://www.freewpthemes.net/ We also have an assortment of basic themes available by default with your blog. |

I used an available theme and just modified it somewhat for my needs, no need to reinvent the wheel

Not to stomp on aseely's post, but you'll always want to be careful when downloading themes from sites that are not directly affiliated with WordPress. I've seen a fair share of themes with holes or vulnerabilities -- they're often the first thing hackers will target on your blog.
That being said, many of the themes on those sites are legitimate, and some very nice. Best of luck! |
