I am trying to get a rough idea of when we can expect an install of the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 on a shared server. I am building a new website with the Entity Framework. Any response from an engineer would be great.

Any update on this service pack update? Has anyone there installed it?

SP1 will probably get installed in the next couple of months during scheduled patch nights. If I were you I would ask support if it can be installed on your particular server asap if you need it now. They shouldn't have any problem doing that.

Thanks for the update.
FYI, all you other Entity Frameworkers out there you can copy the System.Data.Entity.dll and the System.Web.Entity.dll Files from (C:\Program Files\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.5) into your bin directory. you will also have to remove the Assembly declarations from the web.config. This has seemed to work for me in the interim. Updated: This method doesn't work for any DynamicData stuff or EntityDataSource |

I got off a chat with a technician earlier today and they said: "Okay from what I'm understanding, we already tried to install it on the shared servers, and it broke a lot of sites, so it was removed." and that they couldn't install SP1 on the shared server. is this true? |
